The town of Tesserete, situated at an altitude of 532m, is the political capital of the Capriasca, a small region of wooded hills with many lakes and rivers. It is only 10 km from Lugano and can be reached by car, bus or postbus. From a tourist point of view, the village of Tesserete is home to a beautiful medieval church of Santo Stefano. The surrounding area offers beautiful walks and views of the Denti della Vecchia. The 16th century convent of Santa Maria del Bigorio is worth a visit as it was the first one built by Capuchins in Switzerland in 1535. The museum preserves furniture and objects.
