Kpalimé owes its fame to its green natural setting and the many artists who work there. It is a small town with a human dimension that is quite welcoming and lively. Surrounded by mountains that were once heavily forested, it still offers, in some places, an amazing natural setting. From the Agou and Kloto mountains to the Danyi plateau, as far as Badou, the vegetation has remained lush despite the agrarian pressure. Numerous guides and associations offer "nature walks" that allow you to discover the fauna and flora of the region. The hiking trails cross yam crops, palm groves, banana plantations, coffee and cocoa fields. In the more wooded parts of the region, you will discover iroko, ebony, mahogany and giant yucca trees. The region also has very beautiful waterfalls such as those of Tomegbe, Wome, Ykpa, Aklowa (Badou) or Amegape. Kpalimé is also famous for its crafts. One can find woodcarving, batik, macramé, weaving or decorative calabash, among others. Most of the craftsmen have been trained at the only training center in the country, the College of Artistic and Artisanal Education of Kpalimé (CEAA). The city also lends itself to a walk that will take you from the lively market to the stall of a craftsman or to the terrace of a small maquis. During the summer, the city is full of "work camps". The concentration of associations and NGOs is indeed very important. Kpalimé is the second tourist destination of the country and without question one of the most beautiful regions of Togo.
