Somanya is located 10 km south-west of Kpong. The town is famous for its pearls, those of the Krobo people. If you're passing through, don't miss the market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, when the finest pieces are on sale. Clothing and terracotta objects are also on sale. If you're lucky, you may be able to arrange a visit to a pearl producer at the market. This is also where Ghana trains its French teachers. The Saint Mary School training center is staffed by French teachers. The school is located on a mountain.
