At the entrance to the village, a small office open 7/7 from 6am to 6pm welcomes visitors. Admission: GHC 20 per adult, guide included. To see the numerous monkeys around the village and visit the forest sections of the botanical garden, you need to go to the "sanctuary" section. In the forest, there are four groups of just over 50 monkeys, and each group is led by eight chiefs vying for power and females. Established in 1993, the park attracts more visitors every year. The monkeys preserved here are considered sacred. It is said that the inhabitants of Tofi, when they settled in this part of the Volta region (coming from Brong-Ahafo at the time), brought a whole host of objects and offerings to attract the protection of the monkeys. The strategy seems to have worked, since they were able to settle in Tofi. Today, it's the new generations, the descendants of this first population of pioneers, who take care of the monkeys. According to one of the guides, the best time to come and meet them is either early in the morning, between 7 and 10 am, or after 4 pm. These are the times of day when they are most active.Other activities are also possible at Tofi. Cycling, longer walks around the village, music lessons... All information is available from the office and on the park's website: www.visitghana.com
