What a strange atmosphere Aflao has! A frontier town par excellence, it seems to have stepped out of Ghana's world. Not the most reassuring city for a foreigner. So it's highly inadvisable to wander around alone after dark. You're bound to be the target of invective, requests to exchange dollars and barter of all kinds. It's probably best not to respond, to avoid being slowed down along the way. In Aflao, there's not much to see or do. If you're there to head to Togo, it's best to cross the border. If you must sleep there, opt for the Atlantic Breeze Hotel.
