Lake Ahémé is fed by the lazy waters of the Kouffo River which join those of the Mono River to the south to form a vast delta in the vicinity of the Bouche du Roy. The lake covers about 18 hectares. The villages along the lake are home to a population that lives mainly from fishing and agriculture. Theakadja fishing practiced on Lake Nokoué has also developed on Lake Ahémé, but in a more limited way due to the presence of shoals. To whet your appetite, taste the smoked shrimps that women sell on the roads and in the small village markets. Then, head to Possotomé to discover the lake.
