The small town of Aburi, nicely spread out at an altitude of 500 m on the Akuapem hills, is a popular place for the Accra bourgeoisie to come and get away from it all, only 40 km from the capital. With its airs of small altitude station, it is a pleasant green place which has some houses of the colonial time. Aburi is famous for two other reasons than its high altitude location: it is home to the prettiest botanical garden in Ghana, which is one of the most pleasant walks you can take in the country. The second reason is that Bob Marley's widow, Rita Marley, moved here to spend some time in Africa. She has her own house here and built a branch of the famous Tuff Gong Studio, Bob Marley's music studio, which has given the town a unique dynamism, with the presence of many Rastas.
