Twenty minutes after the Aburi Botanical Gardens, you'll come upon this township, home to The Akonedi Shrine, where animist rites are practiced. The site is open to visitors. From here, you can enjoy a beautiful view over the plains of Accra. Although located in the eastern region, the towns of Larteh, Akropong, Mampong and Aburi, all on the Akwapim mountain range, are close to Accra and can be visited within a day's drive from the capital. To get there, there are two possible routes: the faster one, from Accra to Dodowa, and the more interesting one, via Aburi and Mampong, with its beautiful scenery.
