A stopover in the deep mountains and mountain traditions. The Tux joins the Ziller near Mayrhofen to form a beautiful Alpine valley, distinguished by its charm. Its tourism, although well-developed, is still very much a family affair. Hintertux is well worth a visit. Some of its farmhouses are listed as historical monuments, and its alpine cheese dairy and folk museums are worthy of note in their own right. From the village, there are numerous opportunities for glacier walks and superb cross-country ski trails. The resort is well-developed, welcoming and peaceful.
