Situated at the head of the bay carved out between the Sant Elm mountains and the hill of El Molí de les Forques, it was once one of the Baix Empordà's largest cork production centers, an activity that remained dominant until the crisis of the 1930s. The town also has a long tradition of seafaring. Today, it has become a small, family-friendly seaside resort, very popular in summer. Strolling along the passeig de mar, you'll find numerous stores selling cork products, and you'll be delighted to visit the old fishing port, as well as the monastery church of Sant Feliu and its famous Romanesque Porta Ferrada.
