The municipality covers an area of around 60 km². At the beginning of the last century, it was a favorite vacation spot for Barcelona's wealthy families, who built numerous modernist-style second homes in the city center. A stroll along Rambla dels Recolons will give you a good idea of this heritage. Caldes de Malavella is also famous for being the site of the discovery of an important prehistoric site, Camp dels Ninots, from which prehistoric rhinoceros and tapir bones have been excavated. On the last weekend in April, the town celebrates the legend of Malavella, combining folk dancing and heritage.
