The birthplace of the famous Catalan journalist and writer, Josep Pla, this municipality encompasses 4 different sites: Palafrugell, its main town, located about 4 km from the sea, and its 3 old fishing villages, which have been converted into tourist villages, but which nevertheless retain a persistent charm: from north to south, Tamariu, Llafranc and Calella de Palafrugell. The latter is the most famous, since the beach of Port Bo, with its beautiful fishermen's houses, hosts the traditional "Cantada d'Havaneres" every year on the first Saturday of July, a nostalgic song with Creole rhythms sung by the sailors of the last century.
