The village is famous for its imposing rock surmounted by its no less famous fortress which dominates the whole. First occupied by the Lombards, the site was then integrated at the end of the 9th century into the defense system erected by the Abbey of San Vincenzo to protect the entire valley. With the gradual decline of monastic power, the abbey lost all its domains. In the 15th century, the Pandone family, owners of the entire territory between Venafro and Bojano, acquired the castle and transformed it into its current appearance: high and powerful curtains with three round towers.
