The so-called Athens of the Sannio is located in the northern part of the province of Isernia, only a few kilometers from Pietrabbondante. Agnone is rich in architecture and has no less than sixteen churches. Among the cultural and artisanal traditions maintained until today, the manufacture of bells by the Marinelli foundry is the pride of the town. An old village, surrounded by forests, it was also, from the 11th century, an active Venetian colony that spread the cult of Saint Mark. At 900 meters above sea level, with its charm and unique view of the green mountains, Agnone is worth a visit.
