West of Agnone is the highest commune in the Mezzogiorno (1 400 m altitude). Occupied from ancient times by the Samnites and then the Romans, she kept that time only a temple dedicated to Cérès, goddess of harvest. With its houses built with fine stone stones, grouped around the th century church, the village enjoys a pleasant location in the middle of the woods and meadows dominated by the Campo and Capraro mountains. Today, we come mainly to Capracotta for the joys of winter sports. As a ski resort, it boasts the oldest ski club in Italy. In the summer, the resort also welcomes holidaymakers in a nature and clean air.
