Located at 870 m above sea level, 18 km east of L'Aquila, it is a small medieval village still distorted by its walls. Stone houses, beautiful church and clock tower, which have been marking time for centuries, give Assergi the charm of another time. In the vicinity, the hamlet of Fonte Cerreto rose to more than 1 100 m, there is the lower station of the Gran Sasso cable car. From there, you can reach Campo Imperatore ski resort in the Gran Sasso massif; with the Corno Grande, which culminates at 2 914 m, it is the highest mountain in Abruzzo.
