When you go up to this town, you will have a magnificent view: the town is called the balcony of Umbria. In Roman times, Montefalco was already an important municipality because of its dominant position above the valley linking Spoleto and Perugia. Surrounded by 14th century walls, the town of 5,800 inhabitants is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. Wine lovers will be spoiled in this region where the coveted Sagrantino, a DOCG red wine since 1992, is grown. You can go on the road to taste this nectar at local producers. Montefalco means Falcon Mountain
