Capalbio is a small jewel on the southern edge of Tuscany, close to the border with the Lazio region. Nicknamed "Little Athens" for its importance in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance in the field of arts, the city was the land of the Church, then property of the Aldobrandeschi family, before passing to Orvieto and then to the Republic of Siena, and then to Spain, in 1555, which ceded it to the Medici... A prized corner, you will have understood! Of its castle (castello di Capalbiaccio), on the other hand, only ruins remain. Capalbio is today known for the Tarot Garden built by the artist Niki de Saint Phalle.
