The medieval village of Exilles catches the eye first with its spectacular fortress. It is charming with its narrow streets, vaulted passages, Romanesque church and old wooden doors of the houses. Behind the church there is a washhouse and a fountain, whose water is drinkable, as an old iron cup attests. While strolling through the streets, you will notice two other wash houses. You will admire the facades painted pink or blue and, in some cases, with religious figures, and the particularity of the lauze roofs, these flat stones arranged in scales on the roofs forming the skin of a sleeping reptile
