Seldom is the name of this village at 1 200 m above sea level so linked to that of a man: Charbel Youssef Arabia, who lived in the second half of the th century a life of ascetic. He died in 1898 to 70 years during the Christmas mass. He has three miracles in his living. Soon after his death, miracles took place near his grave. In 1977 Pope Paul VI decided to sanctify him. It will thus become the first Saint of Lebanon canonized by the Vatican.
