Situated in the hollow of a green valley, surrounded by vineyards and fruit trees, Caldaro (Kaltern) is probably the most charming place on the Wine Route. Its main square is animated by the terraces of the bars and restaurants that line up on either side of the central fountain. The historical heart of the city reveals magnificent old houses in the "Oltradige" style, with their loggias, oriels and marble porches. Here too, it was mainly wine that made the fortune of their first owners. Today, a dozen canteens in the Caldaro area offer a taste of this wine tradition.
