Travel Guide Egna - Neumarkt

Situated on the banks of the River Adige, Egna was once a trading center, as evidenced by its German name of Neumarkt. The surrounding municipalities are Salorno to the south, Montagna to the east, Caldaro to the north and Termeno, Cortaccia, Magré and Cortina to the west. Egna is characterized by the picturesque porticos of its two main streets, Via Andreas Hofer and Via Portici, once the economic heart of the town. Around 5,300 inhabitants keep the town alive all year round. Every year in July, under the vaults, the "Vini e Portici" event takes place, during which some forty cantine restaurants showcase their wines.
