25 km from Trento, Segonzano is the name of a vast locality in the Cembra Valley, famous for its vineyards and for its woodworking tradition. It is easy to stop at the local estates for a tasting of vintages from small independent producers or in the souvenir shops to find a nice wooden object. But the real interest of Segonzano is its natural earth pyramids, gigantic mushrooms due to water erosion on a morainic hillock. They have the shape of a narrow cone usually surmounted by a boulder. A geological curiosity that is worth the detour
