The last village on this arm, to which it gave its name, Sfantû Gheorghe (600 inhabitants) boasts a long sandy beach and a 57-metre-high lighthouse. The village is famous throughout the country for its sturgeon fishing. The local caviar(icre negre), much of which is exported, is renowned. But sturgeons are in short supply, and efforts are being made to repopulate the delta through breeding. South of the village, the Sacalin-Zătoane reserve is characterized by dunes and sandbanks, isolated lakes, marshes and a rich birdlife (pelicans, spoonbills...). Around mid-August, the Green Village complex hosts the Anonimul International Independent Film Festival.
