This resort of 9,000 inhabitants is the queen of the valley. Its success has turned it into a veritable town at the foot of the mountains. Staying here, you can go hiking during the day and go to restaurants or discotheques in the evening. On the flip side, this luxury resort spreads out its park, surrounded by prestigious hotels and grand mansions, which multiplied after King Carol I decided to establish his summer residence here, the famous Peleş Castle, at the end of the 19th century. The castle itself is well worth a visit from Bucharest, as is the nearby monastery. On the other side of the valley, you'll find a string of unattractive concrete hotels along part of the main road. In winter, there are ski slopes for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.
