Called Keisd in German, this colorful village of 2,000 inhabitants is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is remarkable in many ways. It's worth stopping off to see its 15th-century fortified church, topped with colorful tiles, and its main tower, just a few meters away. 50 m high, it was built in 1677 by the architect of the Clock Tower in Sighișoara. Every quarter of an hour, you can watch enchantingly as the wooden statue, nicknamed Bogdan by the locals, bustles about. The tower has recently been refurbished and can be climbed to the top. The church can be visited every day except Tuesday and Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (€2). On the heights of the hill overlooking the village is the citadel. Dating from 1347, its seven imposing towers are linked by a narrow ford. Only a few parts of the foundations are still visible, but the panorama is exceptional. The citadel is currently being renovated.
