At the foot of the mountains, this small traditional village, with a river running through it, is full of charm. Craft and farming traditions are still firmly rooted here: Sibiel is famous for its apples and beautiful orchards. A fruit fair is held here every year at the end of October. The main attraction is the museum of icons on glass (see box), which also features painted eggs from all over the country. From Sibiel, it's only a few hours' walk to the pretty Cibin Gorge. Several trains depart daily from Sibiu. The station is 2 km from the village center.
