Sticked to Cisnădie, surrounded by beautiful hills, the charming little village of Cisnădioara (in German, Michelsberg) conceals one of the oldest Romanesque churches in the country, the church of Saint-Michel, attested as early as 1223. Situated high up, it was soon surrounded by walls, only a small part of which can be seen today. Two unfinished towers can also be seen. The church is a rather cramped building, with short naves. Its carved Romanesque portal is particularly remarkable. As for the village, it is an interesting set of typical Saxon houses. The surroundings offer some possibilities of beautiful hikes. Numerous buses from Sibiu.
