Windsor is Canada's southernmost city, the only one south of the continental United States border. Located on the Detroit River across from the American city of the same name in the far southwestern corner of the province of Ontario, it is nestled in the rich agricultural peninsula between Lakes Erie and St. Clair. Following the amalgamation of several municipalities along the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair, Greater Windsor now includes the towns of Tecumseh, Essex and Lakeshore, the village of St. Clair Beach, and the townships of Sandwich West, South Maidstone, Rochester and Colchester North.
