Bécancour is just a few minutes' drive from the Laviolette bridge, which leads to Trois-Rivières and the Mauricie region (an electric shuttle bus pilot project between the two cities is currently underway). The city was formed by the merger of several municipalities, including Gentilly, where Quebec's only operating nuclear power plant was located. The dismantling of the facilities will be a long process, scheduled for completion in... 2062.
