Saint-Alexis-des-Monts is the capital of speckled trout (with a fishing festival and shows in June), and above all a magnificent natural territory with over 600 lakes. Renowned inns have established themselves here, including Hôtel Sacacomie, an immense log cabin overlooking the lake of the same name, and Auberge Lac-à-l'Eau-Claire, a mecca for trout and bass fishing. Saint-Alexis-des-Monts is also home to Microbrasserie Nouvelle-France, one of the few microbreweries producing gluten-free beers. Its restaurant is also well worth a visit, with an ambience worthy of 17th-century inns.
