Since1 January 2017, Crèvecœur-en-Auge has been integrated into the new commune of Mézidon-Vallée-d'Auge. Populated by about 500 Crévigorians, the village is known for its remarkable 11th century castle. A stronghold in the Pays d'Auge of the Middle Ages, located on the main communication route between Lisieux and Caen, much disputed especially during the Hundred Years War. In the beautiful countryside of Calvados, this medieval site, classified as a Historic Monument since 1928, is incredibly well preserved despite the centuries of history it has passed through. Don't miss the dynamic town centre of Crèvecœur, so typical of the Pays d'Auge.
