CHÂTEAU DE CRÈVECŒUR - SCHLUMBERGER MUSEUM
This castle is one of the oldest medieval fortifications in Normandy.
Ready to travel back in time? Here you are in one of Normandy's oldest medieval fortifications. A small, remarkably well-preserved medieval seigneury, with stonework and half-timbering bearing 10 centuries of history. This fortified ensemble, surrounded by water and standing atop a motte, includes a 15th-century timber-framed farmhouse, a dovecote, a castral chapel, a barn and a seigneurial dwelling housing an exhibition on daily life in the Middle Ages. It's like being there! The barn houses the Fondation Musée Schlumberger, with an immersive experience dedicated to the astonishing story of the Schlumberger brothers, inventors of a revolutionary mining prospecting technique.
Managed by enthusiasts, the site offers events from April to October: equestrian jousting, moat fishing, chivalry tournaments, falconry shows... And above all "Les Médiévales" in August, a living interactive experience, unique in France. A week of historical re-enactment in the preserved setting of the Crèvecœur seigneury. A must-see, just for the atmosphere! For children, there are games available, whether free access in the courtyard or in the form of quizzes and experiments in the museum area, as well as an adventure trail allowing you to discover an area usually closed to the public, making the whole experience fun and enjoyable for young and old alike!
