Situated around 60 km from La Serena, Tongoy is one of the region's best-known seaside resorts. Overlooking a wide bay, it is bordered to the south by the 14 km-long Playa Grande, and to the north by the long Playa Socos. Further north, other beaches spread out their fine sand and crystal-clear water: Playa Blanca (one of the most beautiful in the region), and, even further afield, the long 17 km beach next to the village of Guanaqueros, renowned for its seafood. Walk up Calle Marcelo Bachelet to Parque Fundicion. An attractive observation point gives you a complete view of Tongoy and the surrounding area.
