Located in full altiplano, 55 km from Pica. You can admire parinas, ducks, guanacos, vicuñas, ñandus… It is possible to observe the fauna fairly closely. Note, for hikers accomplished: a trail of almost 69 km connects salar to the village of Lirima (farther north), which has thermal baths. This trail follows the Río río, then Collacagua, before winning the Laguna laguna. Since then, another trail joins Cariquima to the north, to end in Colchane (all these sections are part of the Sendero of Chile which crosses the country from north to south).
