This large town is nicknamed by its inhabitants "the city of three floors", because of its picturesque location, clinging to a hill. The second floor is the port and the artisanal market, the second floor is the restaurants and the museum, and the third floor is the small church and the main square. It was founded in 1764 by the Jesuits, and enjoyed a certain economic boom as a shipping port for timber. Today there are still some beautiful traditional buildings from the late nineteenth century. The church of San Carlo de Borromeo, built in a neoclassical style, has a brightly colored facade that attracts attention.
