A small village nestled in a spectacular environment, Cochamó means "where the waters meet" in Mapudungun, and will seduce lovers of tranquillity and authenticity. No trendy or hectic addresses, only simple and typical ones. Located between the Yates volcano, the Reloncavi estuary and the river of the same name, it was long inhabited by the Cunco, Poya and Huilliche peoples. You will observe a strong equestrian tradition: the horse has long remained the preferred means of transportation. In 2013, the arrieros of Cochamo were declared living human treasures by the Chilean Ministry of Culture.
