You are well on the road of the wines of Kakhetia, and of the best... The village of Tsinandali evokes the name of one of the best Georgian white wines. Some of the most famous cellars of Georgia are nearby. Don't miss to visit the wineries of Shumi or Shuman. The managers will offer you a tour of their wineries, revealing how wine is made according to traditional methods. You will also have the opportunity to test the various aromas of these nectars, and leave with one - or several - bottles of their excellent vintage under your arm. Tsinandali is also worth the trip to discover the sumptuous residence of Alexander Chavchavadze, prince and poet native of this city. His palace, belonging to one of the most powerful noble families of Georgia, was an intellectual salon of a scale that transcended borders, attracting the greatest minds of its time. You will go back in time, from room to room, admiring the poet's personal objects, manuscripts and period furniture. This illustrious man had a passion for wine. He was a forerunner. Indeed, he was the first in Georgia to draw inspiration from Western winemaking techniques to develop Tsinandali's first bottle of wine. The imperial Russian Romanov family became the owners of the estate and made it their summer residence in 1886. The park around the residence, covering 18 hectares, is truly splendid. At the back of the park, you can visit the cellar where the poet kept his production and collected the great European vintages. Vintage French wines from the 19th century are still kept there. The cellar is said to house around 16,500 bottles. Of course, you will be able to test a few samples of the excellent local wine
