In Kakhetia, "all roads lead to Gourjaani", the main road in the region. Gourjaani is the most dynamic economic and political centre in Kakhetia. Although the town is not of architectural interest, it occupies a special place in the hearts of Georgians. It is one of the main centres of regional wine production. It has the know-how to enhance the local wine heritage. Halfway between Telavi and Sighnaghi, Gourdjaani is an interesting stop on the wine route. In town, you can visit the house-museum of the Soviet Georgian film actress Nato Vatchnadze, alias Princess Natalia Andronikova (1904-1953). Renowned for her great beauty, she became one of the greatest international stars of silent cinema. Very famous in Georgia and in the USSR, she played in many film adaptations of the works of Zweig, Tolstoy, etc. She has won numerous awards in talking pictures.
