There is a long tradition of ceramics: already at the time of the Minoans, the place was famous for the manufacture of pithoi (large jars or amphorae which were used to preserve the olive oil). Many potters still work there and sell their creations to tourists. Their productions, quite similar on the whole, are unfortunately not very original or creative. But with a bit of luck, you will come across new models! An interesting small museum on the square in the geographical center of the village adjoins a shaded kafeneion from where you can enjoy a magnificent panorama. The village is in season invaded by tour buses.
