On the east coast, but in the centre of the island, one arrives at the modern seaside resort of Costa Teguise, where numerous hotel complexes and shopping centres are located side by side. More chic than Puerto del Carmen, this city was created for tourists and lives thanks to them. It has a residential area housing those who work there. It therefore lacks history and soul, but offers lively shopping malls, a multitude of shops, bars and restaurants far from the high end. Prices are higher than in other cities and the beach is very small. A mercadillo is held at the Pueblo Marinero, designed by César Manrique, from 5pm to 10pm.
