Less than 50 km from Zagreb, accessible by car via the highway or small parallel roads, the town is connected to the capital by regular buses. It is therefore possible to go there for a day. In 1899, the archaeologist Dragutin Gorjanović-Kramberger discovered human bones on the Hušnjakovo hill dating back to 80,000 and 50,000 years BC, later attributed to Neanderthal man. There is also an old legend about three brothers, Czech, Lech and Mech, children of Krapina, with fair skin and blond hair, who made the region the original territory of the Slavs. The tourist office is located at Magistratska 28.
