3 km south-west of Göreme, this village listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO is the highest point of Cappadocia. This landscape of rocky peaks, with its strange cavities and fairy chimneys as far as the eye can see, is unforgettable and magical. You can visit the rock (every day from 8 am to sunset), 60 m high and pierced by a multitude of troglodyte dwellings. They sheltered, until recently, the population of Uçhisar. The name of the village comes from the peak itself, hisar meaning "fortress" and uç, the "end". Between the tourist place and the authentic village, Uçhisar surprises.
