Nine kilometers from Nevşehir, this small village with tufa houses, which was called Avcılar, has become a major tourist center in Cappadocia. It borrowed its name from the neighboring valley. Charming and tourist-oriented, there are more than 60 accommodations of all categories and restaurants of varying quality. The famous open air museum is easily accessible. As early as the 7th century, Saint Hieron mentions Goreme under the name of Korama and describes its cellars which were inhabited by Christians. Göreme is one of the few villages in the region where the houses, dug in the rock, are occupied by pensions. The bus station is in the center of the village.
