This tiny islet is now a nature park. It is said to be home to a species of three-tailed lizard(Il-Gremxula ta'Filfla - Podarcis filfolensis filfolensis), extinct everywhere else. A 13th-century chapel, now destroyed, once stood here. A painting of this former chapel is now on display at St Leo's in the Zurrieq cemetery. A former British military base, it is no longer visited for fear of unexploded bombs, as it was used as a firing range in the 1960s.
