No, you are not in the irreducible Bohemian village of Asterix and Obelix! This small mountain village is famous for its many cottages covered in rye straw. To preserve this almost unique heritage in Haute-Loire, the municipality has undertaken the conservation of one of these farms. Other initiatives along the same lines have enabled Moudeyres to regain a bit of its original stamp today. One of the peculiarities of this picturesque village lies in its thatched roofs and lauze. These highly insulating materials are synonymous with the past and the harsh winters crossed by the moudeyrois. Do not hesitate to take a tour of Moudeyres in this season, you may be surprised by the numerous ice stalactites forming during the winter under the roofs of des. The village is also the starting point for two walks, PR 591 and 592. You don't need a map or guide, just follow the tags! The first, "Between Monts and Valleys" is estimated at 5 a. m. for 20 km, the second, "Valley of Aubépin", is more affordable. It is 2,5 km and is estimated to be three-quarters of walking time (a mountain bike circuit also follows this path).
