Qiryat Shmona is the junction point between the road to the north (No. 90) which leads to Metula, a year crossing Tel Hai and Kfar Giladi, and to the east (No. 99) which allows to reach the Golan region via Ma'having Baruch, HaGoshrim and Dan.This city of 23 000 inhabitants is located near the Lebanese border. His name means «city of eight», in memory of the 8 Jewish pioneers killed at Tel Hai in 1920, among which was the great Zionist figure Joseph Trumpeldor. Subsequently, its proximity to the Lebanese border resulted in Kiryat Shmona being often the target of rockets fired by Hizbollah.
