This marsh region of the upper Jordan Valley has largely been drained and made habitable by man, at the expense of many animal species, which today must confine themselves to a restricted space: 3 km ² of marshlands remained intact in 1964. They are home to thousands of birds and many aquatic plants. The best observation season runs from May to October.
