Just 10 km north of Acre, Nahariya is a modern town founded in 1934 by Jewish immigrants from Germany fleeing Nazism. Today, it's a popular seaside resort for many Israelis who come here on vacation to enjoy its miles of sandy beach. It's both touristy and quiet. The promenade, which runs for several kilometers along the seafront, offers spectacular views of the sea, especially at sunset. In addition to the beach, the town is home to a museum retracing its history in the historic Beit Liebermann house (2 Irit Street - open every morning except Friday, 9am-1pm).
