The Goren moshav is famous for the ruins of the Crusader fortress of Montfort, located a little to the south, in Goren Park, on a rocky spur called al-Qurayn (the Horn). This stronghold was built by the Crusaders in the 12th century to protect Saint-Jean-d'Acre. In the early 13th century, it became the headquarters of the Grand Masters of the Teutonic Order. In 1271, the Mamelukes took the fortress, but allowed the Teutonic knights to reach Saint-Jean-d'Acre. Since then, the castle has been abandoned, and little remains today. The walk to reach the ruins is nevertheless very pleasant, in the Nahal Kziv Nature Reserve.
